Partnership with BIM Africa
For strategic alignment and enhanced international relationship, Nziza Training Academy formalized its relationship with BIM Africa, a Pan-African community of construction professionals saddled with the responsibility of creating awareness, sensitizing and regulating the adoption and implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) Industry across Africa.
Thru BIMAfrica and its strategic partners like CanBIM, Autodesk, BIM4Turkey, Infraworks, think-lab international. The African-wide advocacy for BIM adoption and implementation is reinforced by extensive academic and market research programs, certification programs, round-table meetings, seminars and webinars, formulation of continental adapted standards, chapters, volunteering and professional development opportunities.
What is BIM technology?
According to Autodesk, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an intelligent 3D model-based process that gives architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.
Is it important to Rwanda’s architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector?
According to the UN, by 2050 the world’s population will be 9.7 billion. The global AEC industry must look to smarter, more efficient ways to design and build not just as a means to keep up with global demand but to help create spaces that are smarter and more resilient too.
BIM not only allows design and construction teams to work more efficiently, but it allows them to capture the data they create during the process to benefit operations and maintenance activities. This is why BIM mandates are increasing across the globe. So, what leaving Rwanda behind? No, we have to go with the world’s speed in technology. That is why Nziza Training Academy expands its network across different regions of the world to increase the opportunity for local AEC professionals to be trained on what is trending at global marketplace.
BIM AFRICA’s mission is to create a collaborative and united voice towards the digital transformation of Africa’s built environment, collaborating with professional bodies to ensure the deployment of BIM in Construction projects across Africa and encouraging, facilitating and monitoring local BIM awareness and training events.
The strategic partnership with Nziza Training Academy is for the following purposes:
- Raise awareness about the importance of BIM across Rwanda.
- Support and train our students and professionals in the use of BIM software and systems.
- Establishment and consolidation of a BIM network through the engagement of volunteers and members across Rwanda for effective local representation.
- Putting in place various mechanisms to support initiatives regarding activities of mutual interest.
- Achieving awareness of the nature of each organization’s activities of mutual interest. This mutual awareness will be achieved principally through attendance at working party and other meetings, as appropriate, and through communication between relevant staff and/or volunteers of the organizations.
- Collaborating in Research and Discovery, Learning and Teaching, and Engagement.
Both organizations are endeavoring to reach a common goal of Building Information Modeling and Digital Project Delivery as pertinent to the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Owners, Operators (AECOO) Industry in their respective countries. As it has been determined to date, both organizations would also like to cooperate and collaborate on various initiatives and with varying degrees of involvement to reach their common goals of education, promotion and supporting BIM efforts in the AECOO Industry.
Actions reflecting strategic relationship is to commence in the end of year 2020. Inquiries on individual advantage on this partnership may be forwarded to our email education@nzizatraining.ac.rw
